What’s New?

The One for All solo-performance festival at the Marin Shakespeare Company — curated and hosted by yours truly — runs from March 6-22, 2026. Oodles of great solo performers! And all tix are choose-your-own-price! I’ll be performing two pieces myself: What Is To Be Done?: Fighting Fascism and Depression (see below), and an older show I love to do, Ben Franklin: Unplugged. I’ll also be leading personal-storytelling workshops every Sunday morning at 11 a.m. (and there will be coffee!). Tix & info for all festival performances here. This is my first-ever experience curating anything, and it’s been a total joy. Hope to see you there!!

For over seven months, I was mired in a deep depression. At the same time, our country began rapidly descending into fascism. So I’ve found myself in a Resistance on at least two levels: against MAGA’s depredations, and against attacks from within my own psyche. Can I help save our democracy even as I struggle to pull myself together? Will I have to perform these improvs from a psychiatrist’s couch? What Is To Be Done?: Fighting Fascism and Depression is a work in (and of) progress. (You can read a nice review here.)

A cool article on Forbes.com about my show Citizen Brain — and my empathy revolution!

I had a wonderful time on a trip to Hartford to perform Citizen Brain at the fabulous Real Art Ways! There was a lovely article in the Hartford Courant, and I had a blast being interviewed on Connecticut Public Radio’s fantastic The Colin McEnroe Show.

The “Citizen Brain” video series!

Welcome to the “Citizen Brain” video series! (Yes, this series has the same name as my latest solo show — I know that’s confusing!) This introductory video includes excerpts from all the individual episodes, which you can see by scrolling down below.

The Empathy Circuit

The first video in a series, titled “Citizen Brain,” that explores the intersection of brain science and social-justice issues.

Age Without Ageism

The second episode in my “Citizen Brain” series explains how fighting ageism can help us live longer—and make the world better.

The Loneliness Paradox

The third episode in the “Citizen Brain” series unlocks the mysteries of loneliness—with the help of some really smart scientists and a few very cute animals.

Othering & Belonging

This fourth video shows us why we should favor belonging over “othering.”

Certainty vs. Doubt

The fifth video in the “Citizen Brain” series explores how we can try to find a balance between the two hemispheres of our brain, so that we can hopefully achieve a productive, cooperative balance in our society as well.
